I didn't shoot the rifle after the stock was refinished.
1903A3 STOCK CRACK HOW TO
The Armorer told me mine is one of the nicest scant stocks he's ever seen (Thanks to M1Army for that) and he knew it would disappoint me to hear of this crack.Īnyone have any ideas how to fix this crack? I also don't feel like the CMP would try to ''up-sell" me. This "crack" cannot be HUGE because the two of us who stripped and refinished the stock didn't see it. Although I told the CMP to go ahead and replace it with a properly fitted C-Stock, I'd still like to save this stock for use on the rifle. I don't want to hang this stock on the wall it's just too bad-ass for a wall-hanger.

He said officials don't disassemble the rifles prior to competition, so, he really didn't know but he suspects they have the stocks "fitted" before using them in match competition. I asked him what the CMP competition shooters did to avoid this problem. He recommended replacing the stock with a C-Stock because as he said, "I can epoxy the crack for you.it may last a week, a month, or a year.but it will crack again." Said he sees scores of 1903A3's in the shop with the same issue because the original stocks were never properly fitted. The CMP Armorer called me today to inform me there is a crack in the recoil block that has worked its way into the side of the stock. I've got a 1903A3 in a finely figured walnut scant stock at the CMP shop for a complete work-over. Does anyone have any experience correcting a crack in the recoil block of a 1903A3 stock?
